Submitted by Edel Burke, Communications Officer, St. Paul's Foundation
The season of the Enhanced Patient Care (EPC) small grants program is upon us once again!
EPC Grants are small grants (up to a maximum of $5,000) for initiatives, programs, items and equipment that will directly enhance patient and resident care at sites operated by Providence Health Care, including St. Paul’s, Holy Family Hospital, Mount Saint Joseph Hospital, St. Vincent’s: Brock Fahrni, St. Vincent’s: Honoria Conway-Heather, St. Vincent’s: Langara, and Youville Residence.
Please visit our EPC website at helpstpauls.com/EPC to download an application form or to read our Frequently Asked Questions document to learn more about EPC grants.
All Providence Health Care employees are welcome to submit an EPC grant application, with signed approval from their Department or Division Head, Site Leader, or Patient Care Manager. The deadline to apply is May 31, 2018.
St. Paul’s Foundation distributes the EPC grants using funds raised during Lights of Hope.
Small yet vital needs
The EPC Fund has found its niche by responding to smaller, yet often still vital needs that impact patient and resident care. The grants are also meant to help with items or initiatives that may be challenging to fund through more traditional means.
Grants range from a few hundred dollars to a maximum of $5,000, depending on the need.
From items that will spruce up a waiting room, to ingredients for patient cooking classes, musical instruments for music therapy programs, or medical instruments for the maternity ward - the only common denominator is that your request will in some way enhance patient or resident care.
Last year, 225 grants were awarded to programs throughout PHC—more grants than any other year. That the entire grant fund is comprised of donations to Lights of Hope makes the EPC fund a true community program.
