Creating awareness on the Automated Unit Dose Project

Nov 9, 2018 | News

What is AUD?

All admitted patients’ oral tablets and capsules will be packaged individually with patient identifiers in a 24-hour strip, sorted by administration time and delivered to clinical units prior to day shift.

Launched in 2013 at MSJ, we are excited to announce that automated unit dosing will go-live at SPH on Wednesday, November 14!

Why is it happening?

AUD enhances medication safety. This dispensing and administration process promotes patient safety and increases efficiency for both nursing and pharmacy staff.

AUD (and future barcode scanning) is a component of closed loop medication management (CLMM), a fully electronic medication management process which will enable PHC to transition to the Cerner system.
