PHC receives CoachingWise designation

Nov 3, 2016 | News

Providence Health Care has been designated a CoachingWise organization by the International Coaching Federation joining the likes of Fraser Health, JOEY Restaurants, David Suzuki Foundation and UBC.

PHC was formally recognized as CoachingWise at an October 20th Gala Awards ceremony celebrating PRISM 2016: The Future is Coaching.

PHC’s commitment to coaching is linked to a greater vision—to change the culture of health care one conversation at a time.

Over the past 8 years, the Learning and Organizational Change team has been contributing to a coaching culture at PHC by implementing and expanding a successful coaching program.  Over 150 leaders have received 1:1 leadership coaching.  Over 400 people have attended Coaching out of the Box.

Today, PHC provides coaching free of charge to leaders and aspiring leaders throughout the organization. We also regularly offer coach approach training, time for dedicated work in coaching triads, and for 1 on 1 coaching by a roster of 9 internal and 10 external ICF certified coaches. In addition, our coaches support participants in our learning programs.  All leaders in the ExperienceLINX program are provided a 1:1 coach and coaches work with triads in the Core LINX program.

The goal of Coaching at PHC is to provide primarily middle managers with coaching guidance to help them deepen their leadership skills. For example, they may access coaching to have better conversations that support their work with others such as performance enhancement, leadership development and succession planning. Excitingly, 90% of the coachees agreed that coaching has made a positive difference in their leadership style.
